Welcome, Bruce Campbell fans - today is a good
day. The horror sitcom sequel to the original Evil Dead trilogy
has finally released its first official trailer, so stop reading this and start
watching the new teaser for Ash Vs. The Evil Dead. "Groovy" and so
forth.
Shown
at the new Starz show's Comic-Con panel, where it was introduced by stars Bruce
Campbell and Lucy Lawless as well as the one and only Sam Raimi, this trailer
doubles down on the bloody anarchy of Army Of Darkness,
giving fans flying chainsaws, evil dolls and a natty leather
bodice-type-thing.
Jill
Marie Jones (a state trooper who blames Ash for the death of her partner), Ray
Santiago (Ash's loyal sidekick) and Dana Delorenzo (a moody runaway) round out
the cast of the show, which is also executive produced by Rob Tapert, who
originally produced the first film back in 1981.
Speaking
to EW prior to the panel, Campbell explained where Ash is at this point of his
life. "He has survivor’s guilt. You could have a heyday with his PTSD.
He’s a war vet. He continues being a trash-talking know-it-all who doesn't
really know anything. He’s the ultimate anti-hero. He’s kind of an idiot, but
man, if I had to go to battle, I’d want to be next to that guy, because he’ll
bring it if he has to."
Ash
Vs. Evil Dead premieres on October 31, because of course it does.
