If you’ve gone to the movies, you know James Horner. You may not know his name, though with 158 credits as composer, if you stayed to the end of a movie you definitely have seen it pop up more times than not. But you definitely know his music. The 61-year-old award-winning composer died in a plane crash on Monday.
According to Mtv, The Hollywood Reporter and Horner’s assistant Sylvia
Patrycja, he was piloting a small aircraft 60 miles north of Santa Barbara,
when the plane crashed and he was killed. See the tweet...
This is, without a doubt, awful news.
Horner is probably best known for the 27-million copy selling
soundtrack to “Titanic,” but his career also included everything from “Avatar”
(he was working on the upcoming sequels) and “The Amazing Spider-Man,” to
“Braveheart,” “A Beautiful Mind,” and “Aliens.”
Horner had 10 Oscar nominations, three films coming out this
year — including “Southpaw,” which hits theaters in a month — and will be
remembered forever through his beautiful music. May his soul rest in peace.
